promise to pay
Our truck broke down so my boyfriends Mom offered to buy us a nice new used vehicle. We found one and his mom just happens to be old friends with the dealer. So on that oral agreement over the phone he let us go ahead and take the car. She promised a check for full payment on 5-27-08. Now her older son who also has control of her money is saying she cant do it.

Sounds like the "other" son may be the mother's guardian and has control of her money and how it is spent. Probably the best thing to do would have been to ask him, as guardian, about buying the nice vehicle.
