Property of Alimony award

Divorced in 1998 after 19 years of marriage. Martial Settlement Agreement prepared by JAG officer, petition for dissolution prepared by legal clinic. Wife gets 40% of the pension. Documents do not state if the money is alimony or property. Wife is remarried, I wish to stop paying. Is there any way to determine if this is alimony or property?
