Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Is there anything I can do to protect my kids from a father who when having them for visitation drinks and drives with them in the car, I had to go "rescue" my boys 14 and 10 two nights ago from their dad who was "stumbling" drunk in a parking lot on their way to the car to leave. Thank God my kids knew to call me, and never actually made it into the car with him. I do not know for sure, but can assume that it's not the first time he has done this, just possibly not to such great extent of intoxication. I do not know where to start first in the process of making sure this will never happen again. I have now heard through a conversation he had with a family member that he is angry at the kids for calling me when it was his visitation time, he can be very "scary" to the kids and fear he will verbally berate then into never calling me again in that situation. He has yet to speak to them about what happened the other night as I have not let him, and am unsure where to go from here.

Unless you are just venting, next time this happens call the cops while you on the way to rescue the kids. If he has a documented history of alcohol abuse, then you might want to consider seeking supervised visitation.

If you opt to proceed without the assistance of counsel, be aware that you will not be entitled to a do over if things go badly.
