Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Protective Order in Florida

A restraining or protective was put on my son by his former girl friend in Florida. It is my understanding neither person is to contact the other.

The only paper work he ever received was the initial paperwork with a court date. No final paperwork was ever received.

Not only did she lie in the Protective Order, she has moved back to Virginia (where we live) and has been calling, leaving messages, etc. I have told him to ignore the calls, do not answer, and do not talk to her.

Since she is no longer lives in Florida does the Florida order still stand or can we call the local sheriff to have her stopped and arrested for violating her own order?

Re: Protective Order in Florida

Most TROs are Temporary when issued. The court date was likely a hearing for permanency.

If the Order is still valid, I suggest that your son not contact her in any way and even report her to the authorities.
