Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
I have a question regarding an engagement ring that was given to me by my now ex fiance. We were together for approximately a year and a half and he proposed to me. Two months later he ended the relationship and I insisted he take the ring back because he is still making payments on it. He declined several times and told me that he would never ask for it back and that it was the least of his concerns and now two months after he has left and ended things he is now demanding I send the ring back as I gladly accepted and said I would send it. He contacted me yesterday making threats that if I do not send it back by the end of this week that he will get the police involved and he will come get the ring. I still stand firm with my word that I will send it back but would like to know what my rights are to his demands since he is bullying me about it. He said he contacted a lawyer and that since the ring is in his name, he is making payments on it and that the ring is considered a conditional gift and since the marriage was never followed through he DEMANDS it back. Thank you, Sharon

If given in contemplation of marriage, and the marriage does not occur, he should get it back.
