Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My question is pertaining to Florida adoption laws. My childs step father would like to adopt him. The childs biological father has not made any kind of contact with me or the child in over a year and is NOT even on the birth certificate. he has taken no responsablity for our child whatsoever, not physically, emotionally financially or medically. My question is what would be the easiest way to go about the adoption process in this case? I have no way of contacting the father I'm not even sure what state he lives in and have no email or phone number or any contact information at all for him. Ihope theres a way to do this adoption with out having to contact him because that would be a nearly impossible task for me. I have heard that in florida you dont need the biological parent to forfeit their right is you can prove abandonment but i wouldn't know how to prove he hasnt been there my son is not of talking age yet so all i have is phone records and his last email he ever sent dated back to over a year ago. Does the fact he is not on the birth certificate make it any easier?

You have to locate the biological father snad serve him with the petition to terminiate his rights before you acn complete the adoption. Otherwise a step-parent adoption is fairly easy. Contact my office for free consultation 727-446-7659

You can terminate the bio father's rights but you will need to do due diligence in trying to locate him. Once that has been accomplished it is fairly easy to proceed. If I can be of assistance please contact my office for an appointment.
