Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
quit claim
I have an attorney who is now ingorinhg me because she says the case is all but done...has totally changed the way she treat me. I have alittle girl with Autism and have no additonal money to give the Attorye. We had a final Mediation in January of 2009, however a few new things have come up and she wants not a thing to do with me! I signed a quit claim deed in Feb of this year and she did not file it, is she not suppose to take care of this for me?

Re: quit claim
Sometimes attorneys will file quitclaims on behalf of their clients, but sometimes the clients have the responsibility of filing the quitclaims because the attorney wants the client to pay the filing fees directly to the clerk.
I would think that, if the attorney still has the original quitclaim deed, it is her responsibility to file it. Obviously, you can't file it if you don't have it.
Perhaps the attorney isn't doing any further work for you because you are behind on your bill. You should call her office and ask her office manager of this is the case.
