Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
quit claim deed rights in fl divorce
My husband conveyed a quit claim deed to me because I am disabled and could not afford to pay towards the mortgage on the home we acquired when we married in 1998. His name is the only one on the mortgage which lists him as a married man, however, he assured me that the quit claim deed would protect my rights to our home in this community property state. He filed for divorce and the judge says that my half of the mortgage can be applied against the value of the home. I only lived in the home from 1998 through 2000, can the judge do this? pray tell

If the home is in Florida, you need advice from a Florida lawyer. Contact an experienced divorce lawyer right away. Also, quit taking legal advice from your husband unless he's a lawyer.
