Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

You recently answered the question I had about mother taking children to Virginia, the kids live in Virginia with their grandparents who have joint custody with the father who lived in Florida. So the grandparents took the girls out of state to Virginia without florida states approval while the father resides in Florida. The children have lived in Virginia for a few years now. How do we go about filing for full custody while the father resides in Florida with the children residing in Virginia and they have joint custody?

You must get a court involved. If the children were subject to a Florida court Order and could not be found until recently, Florida court may have jurisdiction. If you knew where they were but simply did not take action to have them return Virginia has jurisdiction. You need to speak with a local attorney with experience in this area.
