Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I recently change my Job from Department of Defense working in Iraq making a Gross pay of over $9,000 every two weeks to Department of State working in Washington DC making a Gross pay of $3,768.00 every two weeks. I just spoke to the Attorney general office in Texas and they will send me the documents to fill out and they can review for an adjustment. I also spoke to a lawyer in Texas and they will charge 1500 to do it for me. My question is is it better if i fill out the documents my self and send them or is it more beneficial to have the lawyer do it for me.
