Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I am recently married and want to be able to keep my maiden name for use at work and some older documents but also want to use my married name for future purchases. Am I able to use both my married name and my maiden name? If so should I hyphenate or use my maiden name as my middle name?

You can have and use one and only one legal name. You can use your maiden name, your married name, or hyphenate them. You can even file a name change petition and use a completely different name. But you can't legally use different names simultaneously except in very limited circumstances (such as a pen name for an author).

Under FL law you can take the surname of the husband but you don't have to. If you interchange the names you will run into problems later (like at an airport, or getting a US passport, etc.).
