Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My ex refuses to give me perm to leave FL to accept another job with my son.

My ex and I wrote our own divorce paperwork. He wanted it specified that I could not leave the state with our son unless he gave permission. I added that if I had a decent enough reason, such as a better job offer and more options to give to my son, then his say was not final. My new husband and I have been given the opportunity at much better jobs that would allow us to give our children a much better future. My ex will not voluntarily give his permission. Is mediation a way I can go to have a third-party decide a final legally binding outcome that he would have to abide by, or is my only alternative to petition the courts? Do I have any options at all or can this man decide the fate of my entire family alone with no other alternatives?

Thank you for any advice!

Mediation is not binding. You will have to petition the court for custody modification and permission to relocate. Good luck.
