Most judges will allow telephonic appearances for hearings, though some counties have a special procedure and some even have a special (somewhat expensive) charge for it. You should file a motion for telephonic appearance. We live in an electronic world, and judges are slowly coming to recognize that. You will not be able to conduct a trial by phone, though.
