Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Regular Disolution of Marriage

We have filed a regualar disolution of marriage. We are both in agreement in regards to distribution of assets. The Pasco (Florida) County Court has sent me a letter stating they need a Legal description of real property owned individually or together prior to the case moving forward. They have all other necessary paperwork. We bought a house together in 2004 but have already agreed on how to divide this asset. As the court has our financial affidavits. What do they mean by legal description on real property owned?

You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. The legal description is the way that the court system, the tax collector, and the property appraiser (among others) refers to your property. If your house is located in a subdivision which has been platted, it will read:

Lot ______, Block _______, ____________ Subdivision, according to the Plat thereof, as recorded in Plat Book _______, at Page ______, of the Public Records of Pasco County, Florida.

(with all blanks filled in)

The legal description is found on your deed and can generally be found online in most counties by searching the tax collector's or property appraiser's web site.
