My ex was just released from a mental rehab for suicide watch a yesterday...but he still has a family with money who can support him in ways..so hes trying to get custody of our 6 month old son..would he still be able to??

There is no automatic rule that a party that recently attempted suicide, or was just released from a mental health facility, cannot be awarded custody. While that party would likely be facing an uphill battle, there is nothing to stop them from pursuing this.
