Relocating with my daughter - Father says NO!!

I am wanting to relocate to another state in the middle if Jan. But my 3yr old daughter's father (fyi: we have been broken up for 3yrs) said that he will do everything possible so I can't take her. I just don't want him to try an get me for kidnapping. He hasn't been in her life since his other daughter was born. Physically and financially. I explained money wise this is a good move me. Had do I do? There is nothing in the court system for support/custody - Everything has been verbal agreements? Please Help Me!!!
