Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Relocation

I have a court order from the state of NJ to have a home investigation conducted on my mother's home in Florida. I am looking to relocate to Florida before school starts August 20 and will be staying with my mother for a couple of months. I need to have the home inspected to make sure it is suitable for my child and also need to have the school looked into. Where can I get this Home Study done??

Re: Relocation

You first need to find out from the NJ court what they will accept. Get them what they want.

Years ago, the Florida Department of Family and Children Services (f/k/a HRS) used to do home studies for adoption matters when they were required. I would suggest you call them and they probably can either accomodate you or advise you how it can be accomplished.

Re: Relocation

NJ's Dept of Children & Families ought to forward the order/request to do the Home Study to the County in Florida in which you are to relocate and in which your mother lives. They should also conduct a background check on the adults living in the house to ensure the child's safety too.
