Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

responding to a summons

I have to respond to my divorce petition within the next 3 days. I was waiting to find an attorney I can afford who will help me prepare the legal docs. I want to extend the deadline for filing. How can I go about this?

And in case anyone has additional advice my reason for not filing myself is my husband lied in his petition about his visitaion with his children and several other factors to recieve a 4/3 split in custody. He rarely sees them and has no interaction with their school and personal life and I am concerned his request has negative intentions (like to avoid child support). I feel having an attorney represent me would give me the best knowledge and insight to make sure the right decisions are made and that his false statements will be disproven.

Re: responding to a summons

You need to file a response, even if it is nothing more than flat denails. You can get a form from teh internet, www.flacourts.org.

You should get an attorney asap, or call legal aid in your county for help.
