retainer fee

I met with an attorney for a divorce. I was the last appointment of the day fro a free consultation. I paid a 3500 retainer fee before I left. First thing the next morning, I called his office as soon as they open to tell him I was not going to go through with it. Will I be able to get my retainer fee back?

By now you may have the answer. If not, most fee contracts provide for the handling of a retainer. If it is stated that it non-refundable, guess what? If you did not sign a fee agreement, then more than likkely the attorney can claim something but not the whole fee.
