Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
what are my rights to my grandchildren that i've just about raised all their life. they are 10,9,and 7. their father which was my son got shot and killed three years ago, the mother never really been in their life and just recently she called to say she's coming to get them. I live in Frostproof, Polk county, and she recently moved back to Orlando from Georgia , the grandson who is nine, he's always wanted his mom around which she's always had more important things to do and wouldn't come around for seven and eight months at the time she would always tell them a date that she's coming and never come, he would be the only one sad, the ten year old don't want to go which she's trying to force her to go. I said to her that if she doesn't want to go i'm not gonna force it. the seven year old doesn't have feelings about the situation.she came to me at two days old she just recently (summer of 2009) calling her mom. do i have any rights

Grandparents do have rights. You should consult with an attorney for the best possible solution. For assistance, please contact my office at 1-800-408-5818.
Grandparents have limited rights in Florida. Since you have been raising the children, it would appear that she abandoned them. I suggest you file for full custody ASAP.
