Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Runaway Help

I have a friend who fled the state of Florida 3 years ago at the age of 15. She is now 18 and would like to reclaim her life. She needs to obtain Birth records and Social Security card and also a TX I.D. She is unsure of where to begin and would like some advice on how to get legal after being a runaway. She knows her S.S.# and has a photocopy of her Birth Record. Who does she need to contact for this information. Should she hire an attorney to help her. There is also a matter of amending birth records for her daughter, she had underage and was afraid to put the correct information on the forms. I would greatly appreciate you help with this matter. She isready to begin her life.

Re: Runaway Help

I strongly suggest that she consult an attorney before getting a social security card, Florida identification card, and birth certificate. I am available to assist her.

Re: Runaway Help

You have not asked simple questions.

I'll do the best I can with the limited information you provided.

1. Social Security. There are offices in every city. She needs to go to an office and fill out whatever forms they require to get a new card.

2. Texas ID - if she has been away from Texas for over 6 months then she is no longer a resident a Texas. If she has been in Florida, she needs to get her id. in Florida.

3. Change birth certificate. I assume the child was born in Florida. If so, she needs to contact the agency responsible for birth records in Florida and find out how to amend the child's birth certificate. I don't know if she will need an attorney in Florida. She needs to try to do this herself or contact a Florida attorney.

Good luck!
