Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I have been separated from my husband for a year and 5 months. There seems to be no hope of reconciliation. We both live in Maryland. I am however planning on moving to Florida by this summer. Upon arriving in FL, what would be the steps & timeframe for divorcing my husband? Please advise. Thanks.

Why don't you just pursue the divorce in Maryland?

If you relocate, will your husband file for divorce in Maryland?

For the Florida Court to assert jurisdiction, at least one of the parties has to have been a resident for at least six (6) months prior to filing. If you intend to pursue the divorce in Florida, I suggest that you obtain a Florida driver's license immediately upon your relocation.

An internet inquiry is no substitution for an in-office consultation with an attorney.

If your situation falls within the Greater Tampa Bay area, I would be happy to schedule you for a no obligation half hour office consultation. The main office is in Dunedin, with a satellite location in Tampa.
