Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My ex and I have separated after 7 years and 2 kids. She kicked me out and now has a boyfriend staying with her and the kids a few nights a week. she said she didn't want to seek child support and didn't want anything from me. now, i'm seeing a woman and she says my kids aren't allowed around her. I would like to seek joint custody of my children. I don't know how to proceed. She has previously left me and the children around 3 years ago for four months. She came to see the children, but didn't help me financially at any point during that time. The kids never spent a night with her during the four month stent either. Now she wants to take me to the cleaners. What should I do to protect my kids and myself? I don't have a lot of money for a long battle. I'm a good father and have seen the kids more than regularly and speak to them every day. What should be my course of action. By the way, we live in Florida.

First, you should get a lawyer. Then, file your divorce and ask for custody and child support. You may end up with 50/50 custody or only visitation and paying support (she's not allowed to waive support), but you should start out with asking for the kids.
