Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Seperated and filing tax return

I am going through a divorce and my soon to be ex is demanding we file jointly and also demands that she do the taxes. Am I required to file jointly or can I just file seperatley? Can I be held responsible if she owes money (we have never commingled funds and I am of the opinion if she failed to deduct enough from each paycheck I shouldn't be held responsible for it).

You are not required to file jointly, but it may be to your tax advantage to do so. You probably are liable for any taxes she owes, regardless of whether you file jointly or separately. A tax debt is a marital debt like any other debt.
