Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Seperated for a year and both living in different states

I have been living in Fl most of my life and my husband has been living in N.J. for almost a year. During this time we have been seperated. I heard that it is easier and cheaper to get a divorce when it has been a year of seperation and you have both been living in different states. Is this true? He is asking me to wait until the year is up and he will handle it and it will be cheaper. I have put out a lot of money on the divorce so far without much cooperation on his part until he told me this. I do not want to wait for this to be complete b.s. Is this true or not?

In Florida, separation makes no difference. New Jersey may have a separation requirement, so maybe he wants you to wait enough time so that he can file the divorce in New Jersey.
