Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
I have a shared parenting court order. I have my child every other weekend from Friday to Sunday . Before the court order I had my child every weekend. But that's not important. What is considered contempt? It has been a year since the shared parenting has been in effect. Since my childs mother has moved 2 times and has not provided me with the address. She changes her phone number and doesn't inform me for several days at a time. My child is currently in 1st grade and has been to 3 differant schools. Not once was I made aware of her changing schools till she had already made that choice. So to keep it simple what is considered contempt and what can it do for me? My child is now 7yrs old and consistantly does not want to go back to her mothers house. I just want her to be happy and be stable.

Contempt is when the Court determines a party willfully violated a Court Order.
It would probably be more to your benefit to pursue a Supplemental Petition For Modification (of custody). At the same time, you could also purse a Motion To Show Cause (why contempt should not be found).
If you opt to proceed without the assistance of counsel, be aware that you will not be entitled to a do over if things go badly.
