Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My sister died when I was 16 and she had a daughter. The child's paternal aunt got custody of her because my mother was away in prison. Shouldn't I still have a right to visitation with my niece?

This is so sad. I know how you must feel. Have you had any contact with the aunt about visiting with your niece. If she only has custody - was something filed in court that gave her full custody - or does she just have temporary custody. Sadly there are not rights for you to speak of to see this child but if you are really interested in this child's wellbeing - then I suggest you contact the aunt to see if you can come visit under their supervision until they trust you having her for alone time. If I can be of assistance, please contact my office for an appointment.
