Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
My sister recently gave custody to my nephew to some 19yr old in Ohio. She then moved here to FL where I live, and I invited my nephew to come stay. I tried to contact this kid who has legal custody of him, so that I can enroll him in school, or at least have him withdraw him from school in OH so he can get his GED. These ppl are receiving food stamps for him, so they are not cooperating. I contacted OH courts and they said there may be some loophole to get around that being that they never actually give up the parental rights. Can anyone help with this? He cant go to school, nor pursue a GED!

Your sister can do something about this. You can't. Your sister can go to Ohio and say, "Hey, son, we're leaving right now," or, if that doesn't work, she can go to court in Ohio and demand that whomever has her son turn him over to her. I don't know about loopholes in Ohio; you'd have to talk to an Ohio lawyer about that.
the child's mother has to file papers with the court.
I agree with previous ans. If my office can be of any assistance in No. Fla. pls give us a call. However, the case may need to originate in OH. Tom R.
