Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
My sister's baby's father was conning my sister to have the baby stay in Tennesee for a week. So she did agree but just temporary. Now, the baby's father is making threats that he wants full custody of the baby and he will not return the baby to the mother who lives in Florida. How do you get the baby back since the mother flew with him the day the baby left to Tennessee? Do we have to get a lawyer and wait for a court date? Can we call the cops?? How do we get the baby back in the arms of the mother? This has been a week.

If custody hasn't previously been decided, I suggest pursuing custody in Florida, and at the same time have a "pick-up" Order entered here. She might as well pursue child support too. She will need to see if they will enforce the "pick-up" Order in TN. She might need to have to have a TN Court domesticate/ratify it.
If she opts to proceed without the assistance of counsel, be aware that she will not be entitled to a do over if things go badly.

An internet inquiry is no substitution for an in-office consultation with an attorney.
If her situation falls within the Greater Tampa Bay area (Hillsborough, Pinellas or Pasco Counties) , I would be happy to schedule her for a no obligation half hour office consultation.
