Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

small claim

I stupidly loaned money to a man to get him out of a legal situation he was in. He verbally promised to pay me back and also sent me an email stating he would get a job & start paying me back. He also stated to a friend of his he would pay me back (she put it in writing to me). He has gone back on his word and has further put in writing to me I should be white & accept whats happened or he will ''destroy my life & get me fired from my job. Can i file a suit against him in small claims court?
