Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I have sole conservatorship and custody. So court granted me sole deciding authority for the child's education, medical caret, etc. After being assaulted in public middle school 2 times in 2 months, I am considering enrolling child in private school. I am sure I could jusify why this would be in the best interest of the child.

If I want the non-custodial parent to help with 50% of the expenses, then I know I would need to modify the current order.

Do I petition the court and modify the request first? If I do, then all I would have are proposed school expenses based on the school's application forms.

I have to assume if you have a conservatorship then this child is with medical, mental and physcial ailments. You have every power already given under a conservatorship to place the child in a proper school. As to the expenses being shared - the question would then be is this a necessary step for the child. I suggest you contact a family law attorney so they may review your papers in order to advise you what can be done.
