Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I have sole custody of my daughter in NY and I moved to Florida and now dad in NY got a lawyer and is petitioning

our daughter for custody. I have no money and don't know if I have to show up in court because I can't afford to fly to NY and he states that he wants to terminate child support until everything is settled and I don't know what to do? He makes a lot of money and I just recently lost job but all my family lives here in Florida.

IF you have been in Florida for six months and one day, then NY has no jurisidiction over you and he will have to file all actions here. Secondly, if you are not a resident of Florida then you will have to appear or ask permission from the Court for a telephone conference. As to child support, if he does not pay he will go to court with unclean hands and this will not look good for him in court so I suggest he continue to pay you. How old is your daughter? Is she in NY with him and if she is over 10 does she wish to be with him? Need more info to help you.
