Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
Sole custody
My ex husband is absent, he doesn't see the children for almost a year now, he doesn't pay child support, doesn't call on their birthday and gives me a hard time everytime I need his authorization to travel out of state with the children. Can I request sole custody?

yes. You must petition the court for this relief.
Re: Sole custody
One main issue is why you are not seeking to enforce the child support. If you can not afford an attorney, the local legal aid may be able to assist you.
You may be able to obtain sole custody but I would have to know a clearer picture of the facts and circumstances. If you wish to discuss this in more detail, feel free to send me an e-mail with your telephone number and an appropriate time to reach you during the day.
