If my son gets joint custody for his child, will he still have to pay child support ?

Even if the mother and the father have almost exactly 50% of the overnights with the child, unless they have virtually identical net incomes, one of them will have to pay child support.

it will depend on the income - but yes one of them will be paying child support even if it is only $l.00
