Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
My son from a previous relationship was adopted by my now husband, my son was a minor, after the Judge signed the order which not only reflected my husband as the father but showed the new legal name. We took that got a new birth certificate, new social security card (same number). Fast forward, my son is now an adult and seems to have the problem that when he gives his ssn to hospitals, landlords, government agencies they always tell him that they have an alias for him which is his previous name. This name was not being used by the age of 9 and has never been used as an adult. It is a very uncomfortable awkward situation and he would like to never mention his previous name. Obviously, showing his ss card and/or birth cert. doesn't fix the problem. Not one company will drop the alias issue and keep both names on all records. What will need to be done to fix this once and for all?

There is nothing you can do, the new birth certificate shows the new name. There is no motion or anything you can do in any court.
I am perplexed as to your problem. I know that when you are applying for a top security type position within the government and any position with medical - that these people can find your previous identity. The landlord is interesting - he would not have access to these records unless maybe he was able to obtain the information outside of the normal realm.
