Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I and my son are residents of Florida and have been since the birth of my son. I have been a resident of Florida since 1989. My husband and I have been separated since 2006, before the birth of our son. My husband lives in ALabama and is now filing for a divorce and joint custody of our son whom he has only seen approximately 3 times in his life. There is a trial set in ALabama. Can I get a lawyer in Florida, or will it be necessary for me to go to Albama?

Unfortunately, you may need lawyers in both states. Alabama probably doesn't have jurisdiction over your son, so you may have to file for divorce in Florida as well. You should call an Alabama attorney immediately. That lawyer may tell you to talk to a Florida lawyer, too.
