Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My son's father told me that he can't give me any money to help with bills until he has a court order to pay child support. Is this true?

That is not true. If he does not pay any child support voluntarily, the amount of his child support arrearage will be much larger when his child support obligation is finally determined.

If he was talking about having the money taken directly out of his paycheck (via Income Deduction Order), that may be true. That is, his employer may be unwilling to withhold the child support money and send it to you without being required to by a court order.

He can always voluntarily pay. If not, obtain a child support order from the court.

To say he "can't pay" is BS. The court will slam him with a huge arrearage when the case goes to court. Contact my office for free consultation 727-446-7659

The law doesn't forbid him from giving you money. Anyone can give anyone money. You should seek court-ordered child support against him.
