Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

How is it possible, in the state of Florida, to get a divorce without a respondant's

signature on any of the forms submitted to the court? My friend has told me her ex-husband, the petitioner, filed and successfully completed a dissolution of marriage without her knowing. Is this possible? He filed in Miami.

It could be possible but it would only apply to the divorce issue. If the petitioner could not serve the respondent at the last known address, then he could have filed a notice of action in the local paper in order to satisfy constructive service. Once a week for three consecutive weeks. The hope is that someone who knows her would have contacted her to inform her of an action pending in the courts. The judge would hold all other issues in abeyance until a hearing could be held - things like chid support, custody, alimony, etc.
