Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Hi! I am in the state of Florida . I am an unmarried mother of a 4 year old. Her father (Who sigend the birth certificate) has left us again and has had nor made any attempts to have contact with his child. Her last name is hyphenated mine-his. I would like to change her name to just my last name. Can I do this without him? He is n t on child support and I cant remember the last time we saw him.

Since he is on the birth certificate and you are in contact with him or know where he is you would need him to sign a consent to the name change.
