Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Out Of State Seperation Agreement

I have a legal seperation agreement from another state when I lived there. Now I live in Florida. Is the legal seperation agreement from that state valid here or is it just useless. I was told that Florida does not have legal seperation, what about an agreement from the other state.

Any and all info would be helpful.

Thank you

Re: Out Of State Seperation Agreement

The Separation Agreement, which is still a valid contract under Florida law, should be incorporated into an Order of the Court here in Florida so that Florida courts can enforce it in the family law divisions. It should not be a difficult process, just lots of paperwork and perhaps one or two short hearings, assuming your ex objects to having the Florida courts assume jurisdiction over the Agreement. If you want assistance pursuing this, please contact me.
