Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

step-grandparents visitations and legal rights

i have just been awarded custody of my 2 minor grandchildren by the courts in the state of Ga. They have moved down here to Florida with me. My daughter's husbands step-parents are trying to obtain visitaions with the children. Those people live in Louisiana. There is no divorce between my daughter and her husband though they are lving apart and in different states. My daughter's husband is a convicted sex offender and his step parents live in a squaller. Since the estranged husbands family are of no blood relation to these children do they have any legal rights to them at all? The oldest grandchild of mine hasnt been in their residence in over a year and the youngest one doesnt even know who they are. In fact i doubt the oldest child even remembers them. Any advice you could lend me? please?

Hello, I just read your question. since I do not have all of the facts, this is not a formal legal opinion. As a general overview, Those folks have NO rights. They would have to file legal pleadings in Fla. which would be expensive and without any legal grounds. 'hope this helps. Tom Rosenblum
