stopping child custody case

Once you have started this can a person write the court and ask to stop. The only reson I did this is my child came on a visit and begged to come back to live with me and now he is saying he really wants to live with his father he didn't want to hurt my feelings by telling me that he wanted to be with his father. Now his father is telling me he won't let him come for summer visit and talking hateful to me.

You can withdraw your petition but this doesn't mean that the father will change HIS mind.
