Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Can I sue someone for making false statements about me, causing me to be arrested, spend a night in jail, etc. It was a Domestic Violence issue. The States Attorney dropped the charges but I am still going to have to go to the trouble of trying to have the record expunged as I am a professional in the community and really cannot afford to have a Domestic Battery arrest on my record.

You can - you can have the police file a false police report against the person if you have the evidence. These things are not easily accomplished through pro se - I suggest you get an attorney.

You can file a lawsuit for defamation and/or false arrest against the person who brought the false charges and made the false statements (assuming you suffered actual monetary damages) against you.
