Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Support issue

I have two sons, 10 and 7, who I have cared for since birth. Their mother and I (unmarried)split 3 years ago, after she was arrested for domestic violence( she cut me across the chest, no hospital, no stitches, etc.)Charges were dropped. I received food stamps for about a month to get us back on our feet and I worked nights, she days. we have shared custody, splitting all expenses. I recently got a good job. Within 2 weeks of me getting the job, she has filed for retroactive child support from 1990 till present. As I stated earlier, I have always been a financially responsible parent. I even coach Little League and haved played guitar and sang for the children in their classroom. I am a VERY active parent. My ex has stated she doesn't need the money, but did it solely because she was mas at me. What are my chances? I'm financially stretched. Any further expenses would jeopardize my future with my new fiancee' and my childrens happiness.

Re: Support issue

In Florida - Child support can not go back any further then 2 years from the date of the petition. Then if in those two years you have paid child support then you will receive a credit. If the children have been residing with you with visitation to her then you would receive the child support back 2 years with her receiving a credit. Have you been served with an action? Be careful, you only have 20 days to respond. Feel free to contact me and if you qualify for a reduced rate I would reduce our rates for you to handle this case.
