Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Tax Return About Exspouse?

Does an almost exspouse have the right to an almost exwife's future tax filings? The almost exwife doesn't know how her almost exspouse has filed his taxes this year. Whether he filed jointly with his almost exwife or separately as a single. How can she protect herself and their young son? How can she find out what he's done and how he has filed his taxes; so to keep herself safe and protected against her soon to be exhusband and from whatever he has done, since he has been out of the home for almost 1yr.?

Re: Tax Return About Exspouse?

The ex-spouse should file as head of household or married filing separately. If the minor child resides with the mother, she should use the dependency exemption and any other tax credits available. A divorce proceeding is the clearest way to find out financial information about the soon to be ex-spouse.
