Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

taxes and divorce

My ex and I were divorced 9/94. Part of the decree said that he was responsible for any back taxes owed from 90-94 and he agreed to this. It also stated that if the IRS came to me for the money he owed, he was to reimburse me for the full amount kept by the IRS. To date it is 998.40 and he still has not paid me back. He won't return my calls and I would like to know if he can be held in contempt of court for not following the decree? Also, can I file this on my own or do I have to have an attorney file for me? Thanks for any advice.

Re: taxes and divorce

Any definitive reply is now premature. You should see the attorney who represented you in the divorce. You fail to tell me in which State you reside or the State which entered the divorce decree. Accordingly, I cannot give you a State specific reply. Generlly, a Court order is enforceable through contempt proceedings. I would suggest you see an attorney in your area for further advice.
