Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Teenaged daughter must appear for juvenile diversionary hearing- must we hire an

My 17 yr old daughter, who has ADHD, became verbally abusive towards me and pushed me down in our home. As I was in pain from the fall, my husband phoned the EMTs to come to our house to assist me. They first phoned the local police to report a domestic distrubance. The police came and arrested our daughter for battery-domestic violence (even though we did not press charges). Our daughter must appear at a hearing in the 13th Judicial Circuit Court tomorrow afternoon.

I am unsure whether an attorney must be present to represent 1) me and/or 2) my child. There was no instruction as to whether one was necessary or not in the Notice Of Hearing.

You do not need an attorney. The State of Florida may appoint one for your daughter although you may wish to hire one privately in order ensure competent representation.
