teenager not living at home

can I get in trouble if my 17yr old is staying w/ friends? He's safe but he doesnt let me know what he's upto. can this family sue me for child support which I don't get myself?

Depends. Is the family asking for your support?

You are still responsible for the child until he reaches majority.

Sounds like you and your child need some intervention/counseling. There must be some problem if he is staying with friends?
