Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

teens and visitation

My fifteen year old daughter would like to work on the days that she is supposed to visit with her dad. He says no and that she needs to find another job. This is the first summer she is eligible to work and the first summer for visitation. She was willing to budge and move around one day, but, when he denied her the job opportunity, she is digging in her heels and syaing she won't go at all. As the mother, what now?

Re: teens and visitation

You probably haven't given us enough information. Why is he being a jerk (or is he)? Why won't he budge on one day? Is it one day a week or one day in the whole summer? Is there something special about the day? It is a day where they do something special together, or is it just another day?

I think a judge will probably let her work, but I'd have to know more about the situation to tell you for sure. As a mother, it's your duty to encourage vistitation, but I don't know whether he's being unreasonable.
