Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Temporary Financial Support

My husband works out of state and only comes home 1 weekend every 2-3 months. Every time he comes home we argue & it ends with him threatening, restraining, pulling hair, etc. This last time he visited and hurt me, I called the police. They said there was not enough to make him leave our house, so I got a restraining order the next day. He went back out of town and begged me to drop the order, saying he wont return here again. I dropped it. He came back 2 months later (this weekend) and I was scared so I got another order. He was livid so he took all the money out of our joint account and is refusing to pay the bills. He says he wont pay for bills if I can't be married to him. Is there anyway I can get a judge to order him to continue paying our household bills, until we divorce? I lost my job when I got pregnant due to complications -- my husband & I decided I would be a stay at home mom to our newborn who has special needs but now he's taken all the money and I'm stuck with no job and caring for a special child. Advice !?!

Re: Temporary Financial Support

Once your divorce is filed, you can file a motion for temporary alimony (alimony while the divorce is pending). Some counties make you complete mediation before your motion for temporary child support/alimony/attorney fees/etc. can be heard.
